Jeff Burt, FSA, MAAA, Executive Vice President - Financial Solutions, joined HLR America in 2003 as Vice President - Marketing where he had primary responsibilities for client relationships in traditional life reinsurance with a focus on portfolio reinsurance. During the course of his career at HLR America, he has developed the firm's financial reinsurance platform to include a wide range of structured reinsurance solutions covering block acquisitions, capital relief, embedded value securitizations, and redundant reserve relief.
In 2009, following the acquisition of the ING portfolio Jeff assumed responsibility for the Financial Solutions business unit which provides capital oriented solutions across the company's entire risk portfolio including, term and permanent life, annuities, senior health and special risk business.
Prior to joining HLR America, he held various positions at Penn Mutual Life Insurance focusing on pricing and product development of individual life insurance and annuities including illustrations, competitive analysis and reinsurance.
Jeff is a member of the Company's Operational Council. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and is a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA).

Suzanne L. Downey, ARA, ACS, AIRC, CPIW, Vice President – Financial Solutions Operations, joined HLR America in May 1984.
Suzanne began her career in the life reinsurance industry with Hamburg International Reassurance Company (now HLR America). She has advanced within the company holding several positions with various responsibilities. Her most recent position was associated with the management and processing of the assumed and retroceded business including claims as VP of Business Administration.
Suzanne is an active member of the National Association of Insurance Women and with LOMA where she currently serves on the test review panel for the Reinsurance Administration course. In addition, Suzanne is an Associate, Reinsurance Administration (ARA), Associate, Customer Service (ACS), Associate, Insurance Regulatory Compliance (AIRC) and a Certified Professional Insurance Woman (CPIW).
At HLR America, Suzanne is responsible for the management of the administration of the financial solutions business and the coordination of the treaty development and maintenance.

Ed Attarian, FSA, MAAA, CLU, ChFC, Vice President – Finance and Risk Management, Financial Solutions, joined HLR America in April, 2009. Ed has over 25 years of experience in the life insurance and reinsurance industry.
Prior to joining HLR America, Ed was with ING for nine years in two distinct reinsurance roles. First as the pricing actuary for ING Re’s northeast region, and more recently as the actuary responsible for ING Retail Life’s ceded reinsurance. Prior to ING, Ed spent over 10 years with Penn Mutual with various responsibilities that included product development, pricing, and reinsurance. He began his career with Harleysville Life Insurance Company in 1983.
Ed holds a bachelor’s of science degree in mathematics and economics from Moravian College in Bethlehem, PA. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and a Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).
At HLR America, Ed is responsible for the financial reporting and inforce management of the financial solutions business.

John G. Di Meo, FSA, CERA, MAAA, Vice President – Financial Solutions, joined HLR America in June 2010. John has over 15 years of experience in the life insurance and reinsurance industry.
Prior to joining HLR US, John held the role of appointed actuary for M Life Insurance Company. In addition to the responsibilities associated with asset adequacy testing, John worked on the design and implementation of various reinsurance programs, he oversaw the development of corporate modeling capabilities as well as the risk assessment process for new products. Prior to joining M Life, John worked for the Canadian operations of Metropolitan Life.
John graduated with distinction from Concordia University and received a bachelor’s of mathematics degree. John went on to receive a master’s degree in actuarial science from the University of Waterloo. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA), a Certified Enterprise Risk Analyst (CERA) and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA).
John is active in various industry committees. He currently serves on the Variable Universal Life (VUL) subcommittee of the Life Reserves Working Group (LRWG) and is Vice Chair for the Society of Actuaries Advanced Finance / ERM exam. John has published research in the area of mortality and home equity conversion plans.
At HLR America, John is responsible for the inforce management of the financial solutions business.

James J. Mahoney, ASA, Vice President - Financial Solutions, joined HLR America in June 2001 from the Newport Group, where his primary responsibilities included the evaluation and funding of employee-related liabilities with broad-based, corporate-owned life insurance (COLI).
Previously, Jim was an Assistant Actuary with American Pioneer Life Insurance Company, where he served in actuarial pricing, valuation and corporate modeling capacities for eight years. He is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA).
At HLR America, Jim is responsible for the inforce management of the Financial Solutions business.

Robert Meehan, FIA, Vice President, Pricing – Financial Solutions, joined HLR America in April 2010. Rob has occupied various positions with affiliates of the Hannover Re Group. Most recently, Rob served as Chief Actuary of Hannover Life Re Bermuda Ltd. Prior to that role, Rob served as Marketing Actuary for both Hannover Life Re America and Hannover Life Re Ireland Ltd. Before joining Hannover Life Re, Rob served as an Actuarial Trainee with Eagle Star Life Assurance Company in Dublin, Ireland.
Rob is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries (FIA), and a graduate of the University College Dublin, Ireland.
At HLR America, Rob is responsible for the structuring and pricing all financial reinsurance solutions written by Hannover Life Re for U.S. based clients.

Lonny Meewes, FSA, MAAA, Vice President Marketing - Financial Solutions, joined HLR America in February 2009. Lonny’s career spans over 16 years in the life insurance and reinsurance industry. Most recently, Lonny served as Vice President, Marketing for the Mortality Solutions Group with HLR America. Prior to that, Lonny served as Senior Vice President and Actuary for Scottish Re and was responsible for the pricing and treaty functions.
Prior to joining Scottish Re, Lonny served as Assistant Vice President and Associate Actuary with Universal American Financial Corp. Lonny was an Assistant Actuary for Royal Maccabees Life Insurance Company, and began his career as an Actuarial Analyst with the Federal Home Life and Harvest Life Insurance companies.
Lonny holds a bachelor’s of science degree in applied mathematics (magna cum laude) from the University of Central Florida. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA).
At HLR America, Lonny is responsible for marketing the Financial Solutions Group.

Clifford T. Ball, Assistant Vice President - joined HLR America in May 2008. He brings a wealth of experience to the position, having 15 years of life insurance experience serving in various capacities.
Prior to joining HLR, Cliff spent many years with Nationwide Financial Services, where he specialized in a number of areas – including corporate insurance markets, variable life financial reporting and cash flow testing. He directed a team responsible for pricing and developing bank-owned life insurance (BOLI) products, and coordinated valuation and forecasting processes, streamlining financial reporting operations and systems. Additionally, Cliff modeled assets for Nationwide’s cash flow testing model.
Cliff earned a bachelor’s degree in finance and economics from Kent State University, and continued on to receive his master’s degree in economics. He is a Fellow in the Society of Actuaries.
At HLR, Cliff is responsible for pricing and developing new products in the Financial Solutions market segment.
