Joseph A. Sikora, CFA, FSA, MAAA, Senior Vice President – Insurance Risk Management and Appointed Actuary, has 35 years of actuarial and insurance management experience with both stock and mutual insurance organizations as well as in consulting.

He has successes in acquisitions, mergers and divestitures of operations as well as a strong background in tax and regulatory issues.

Joe is also a semi-professional clarinetist in the Orlando Concert Band and has successfully applied his degree in Physics to reinsurance. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA).

At HLR America, he has an oversight role of new business pricing and financial management in addition to risk analysis and overall valuation responsibility as the company's Appointed Actuary.

Joseph A. Campanaro, Assistant Vice President and Associate Actuary, joined HLR America in January 1999. Prior to joining HLR he served in financial reporting, valuation and corporate modeling capacities at John Alden Life Insurance Company.

Joe began his career as an actuary in 1977, specializing in financial reporting, including reinsurance, from the ceding company’s standpoint with Reliance Standard Life Insurance Company and CIGNA.

At HLR America, Joe is responsible for supporting the Chief Actuary in the areas of valuation, financial reporting and regulatory compliance. He is also the Liaison Officer with HLR America’s parent company, Hannover Re Group.

Carlos E. Casali, FSA, MAAA, Vice President - Valuation, joined HLR America in February 2009. Carlos brings over 13 years of life insurance experience to the position.

Carlos began his career as an actuary in 1997, working for ING on the direct side, specializing in Product Development and eventually in Financial Reporting. In 2003, Carlos transitioned to ING Re, where he served as a Modeling actuary. In 2005, Carlos joined Scottish Re, where he served as a Financial Reporting actuary.

Carlos attended John Brown University on a full soccer and academic scholarship, and holds a bachelor’s of science degree in Business Administration and a minor in Mathematics. He also worked towards his Masters of Actuarial Science degree from Northern Arizona University. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA).

At HLR America, Carlos is responsible for the financial reporting and valuation, as well as in-depth analysis of the business flowing through the Mortality Solutions business unit.

Joseph Thairu, FFA, FSA, MAAA, Assistant Vice President and Assistant Actuary, joined HLR America in January 2003 with six years of experience in the South African Life Reassurance market, where he worked for the Hannover Life Reassurance Africa Limited.

Joseph graduated with a BSc (Hons) degree in Mathematics from the University of Nairobi and thereafter a post-graduate diploma in Actuarial Science from London’s City University. He is a Fellow of Faculty of Actuaries (FFA), Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA), and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA).

At HLR America, Joseph is responsible for technical support in the Insurnace Risk Management area.
