Financial Ratings

Financial strength ratings are a key indicator of stability and security – and in the insurance industry, A.M. Best and Standard & Poor’s are the most relevant rating agencies.

  • HLR America is consistently rated “A” (“Excellent”) by A.M. Best. The company is not rated by Standard & Poor’s.
  • HLR America’s parent company, Hannover Re Group, has also received an “A” (“Excellent”) rating from A.M. Best, as well as an “AA-”(“Very Strong”) rating from Standard & Poor’s.

These strong ratings were based in part on the following (according to Standard & Poor’s media release from May 22, 2007):

  • Very strong operating performance
  • Strong enterprise risk management
  • Strong management team with clear, consistent strategy and absence of operational mistakes
  • Very strong capital adequacy
